DMAE (Dimethylamino Ethanol)
|
Dimethylamino Ethanol (DMAE) is a natural amino
alcoho and it is found in small amounts in the brain. Dmae is considered a
precursor of choline that is needed for the brain to make acetylcholine.
Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter in nerve
signal conduction and healthy function. As a supplement, DMAE works with other
“smart nutrients” such as gingko bilboa.
DMAE naturally occurs in foods such as fish,
salmon, and sardines in particular. The human brain maintains a small amount of
dmae, which plays various crucial functions. On the surface, this nutrient
protects the integrity of cell membranes, however dmae does far more than just
this. The deterioration of cell membranes can lead to aging earlier than one
should.
DMAE is
used as a dietary supplement and the dose is one v-cap one to three times daily.
It is preferable to take them between meals. Do not take more than the stated
dose without checking with your physician. DMAE comes in the form of creams,
capsules, and liquid tablets.
Information on DMAE – DMAE benefits and
functions
DMAE can
lift ones mood level to a more positive side, counter depression and bad moods,
and raise and improve cognitive functions (such as memory and concentration),
dmae can even increase intelligence. These benefits of dmae come from the
nutrients ability in manufacturing acetylcholine, which is a substance
responsible for positive health mental functioning.
Physician’s closely watching patients on DMAE
have reported that such people are more. upbeat, and have greater positive
mental acuity. Also, people taking it often, have reported sleeping depper and
having much more energy when awake.
Finally, one of the most promsosing DMAE
benefits is that it promotes healthy skin, by stopping the process of
arachidonic acid being manufactured, which is a substance that can lead to
wrinkles and aging of the skin. Because of these purposes, the nutrient can be
taken internally as nutritional supplement or applied topically through certain
creams.
Some of
the functions of DMAE include the improvement of concentration and memory. It
reduces the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, and other problems that come with
age. It may also treat autism, memory deficits, depression, and dementia. It may
treat sleep problems, Alzheimer’s, and ADHD.
Some sources of DMAE are oily fish such as
sardines. Small amounts are produced in the body. However for some,
supplementation may be necessary. It is best to check with your doctor to be
given the all clear first.
Information on DMAE - Precautions
There is no known toxicity, and it is considered
to be a very safe supplement. There is no RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) set
for this nutrient. However there are some cautions for people with certain
conditions.
Dmae is
advised not to be used by those with epilepsy or seizure disorders, bipolar
depression, or Parkinson’s disease. Pregnant or nursing women should not use
DMAE unless they have the all clear from their doctor. Some known but rare side
effects include gastro-intestinal problems, body odor, drowsiness, confusion,
high blood pressure, moderate depression, and persistent irritability.
